Mar. 21--LIMA -- In Terry Rasche's visual arts class at Lima North Middle School, pupils are designing towers made from straws. Yes, it's an art project, but without some math and metric conversion knowledge, the project can't be properly completed. "These are things that come right smack out of the mathematics state content standards," Rasche said. "Things that have to be taught in a mathematics class are happening in a music class, happening in art class, happening in a physical education class, and no one seems to know that is the way it is and has always been."
