M's want rehab starts from Weaver.(baseball player Jeff Weaver)

May 30--ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Something the Mariners really don't want to deal with right now is being thrust upon them.

Jeff Weaver says he's ready to pitch.

The sidelined starter threw about 70 pitches in a simulated game Tuesday and promptly declared himself ready to rejoin the team's rotation. Trouble is, the Mariners want him to go on a minor-league rehabilitation assignment for another two weeks or so.
