Research with teacher-provided learning strategy shows that instruction on such strategies is affected by teachers' own use of some learning and self-regulation strategies, and improved by course study in educational psychology. Teachers tend not to suggest how students might best approach a task, and this may be because they are convinced learning strategy suggestions will be ignored or not helpful. Teacher training programs should attempt to correct this attitude.
