Pension fund data rules are revised.

NEW YORK (FNS) -- The Financial Accounting Standards Board, the accounting profession's rule-making body, has decided apparel firms will not have to disclose in financial statements their pension fund withdrawal liability unless it is clear the company will withdraw.

The final document embodying the rules for employers' pension fund accounting is expected by the end of this year.

In addition to the withdrawal liability decision, the board will not require companies to show what portion of a multi-employer pension fund's total contribution the reporting company's contribution represents. Under the proposal, apparel firms will be required only to show the unpaid portion ...
