The tree - a nice balsam fir, Scotch pine or even a fakery
-- is still the basic decoration for Christmas, but there are other
ways to make the house festive for the holidays.
But, first, it's important to make sure the tree is tall, full
and well-trimmed, with lights as well all the baubles you've
collected. Even a small table tree is good if it is well-trimmed
and lighted.
If you see an indifferent tree, sparse lights and sporadic
baubles, you know you are at the house of a Scrooge, or someone who
has been cajoled into decorating or whose tradition does not
include trees.
