Summer switch; Compared to the incredibly hot and dry summer of 2002, these last couple of months have been milder, wetter - and remarkably overcast and humid.

Last summer, it was the heat, not the humidity, that got to us.

This summer? Hello, humidity. Goodbye, heat.

"To me, this was a pretty uncomfortable summer," Millersville University meteorologist Eric Horst said today. "The humidity to me was just as bad as the heat."

This summer actually looks mild on paper, when comparing it to last summer's searing heat and parched conditions. But it was by no means a walk in the park, unless it was a park with sticky, cloudy weather and grass that constantly needed mowing.

"The frequency of showers was notable," Horst said.

Unfortunately, the upcoming Labor Day weekend will bring us more of the same: showers, muggy conditions, but some peeks of sun.
