Using Community Based Social Stories to Enhance Instruction for High School Students with Moderate Disabilities

The focus of special education, particularly at the high school level, is to increase the standard of living for students. This often means that the reading level of a student with a disability, for example, is not as important as his ability to function in a specific work place. Therefore, effective instructional materials must be tailored to meet the individual needs of the students in order to prepare them for life in the work place.
